MY PLEDGE FOR NATURE
WILDLIFE POND
Creating a wildlife pond of any size in your garden or land is a great way of inviting wildlife including amphibians, insects and birds into your garden. Children love observing the lifecycle of frogs and toads and pond dipping.
Pledge – Create a Wildlife Pond
Ponds can be an old sink set into the soil or cover a large area. Both will encourage wildlife as long as there’s a way for creatures to get in and out. Plants are an important part of your wildlife pond, oxygenating the water and providing food and shelter. Use UK native species where possible.
It is best not to add fish to your pond as they can pollute the water and eat the other plants and animals.
